Final Day

Today I’m cleaning everything out and clearing all my files. I started by sending the important ones that I wanted to keep for myself to my personal email account.

Next I’m going to give myself a small not very detailed project that will take up some time and make a pretty good piece of artwork 

I began by finding a figure model that I could sketch off of and make go from there.

I traced the figure with the brush tool and used the smudge tool a little to clean up the really bad looking lines making them more consistent.Next I used a good blue color and painted the jeans.  once I painted the jeans I used my eraser and made some blank spots in the jeans then once I made the blank spots I used a combination between the smudge tool and the blur tool making the pants look faded.

Next I colored the hoodie and I used the same steps for it as I did on the jeans 

After I got most of the cloths done I went on to making the skin color which didn’t take long.  I just needed to look for the right tone. Once I found the right tone I did a feathery like brush style for it making it able to be blended together and make a good consistent completion. 

Finally I did ascetics.  These were just coloring not really any use of any other tool than the brush tool and a few different shades that were slightly blended but nothing too dramatic.

The Final thing I did today was re print my drawing poster that was assigned to us by Mrs. Frascht. Im not Quite sure yet at to what I’m gonna do but I believe I’m going to make a Picture frame then frame it maybe buy a picture frame I’m not sure yet.

I cleared everything that i felt comfortable with deleting on my computer.  I hope that at least helped Mrs. Frascht.  The files I deleted were artwork of mine pictures that I had saved so I could use them and audio files that I downloaded to make my EOY video

I had a lot of fun in the 10 weeks I has here. I look froward to next year if I get to come back.

Well this is my last post for the year (sad face) but I’ll be back next year hopefully until my next post sincerest goodbyes and have a wonderful summer until next Year Blake Miller signing off.

Final Week day 46

Today was ok.  I didn’t get a whole lot of ground covered on my picture but I did finish the blades and started effects

I began by coloring and blending the daggers making them look good for the final picture.  the main techniques I used for this were using different shades of the same colors and using the smudge tool to blend them together then after that I would use the blur tool to rid of entry kind made by the smudge tool.  

week 9 days 44 45

So in the past two days I’ve gotten quite bit done.

 

I started a new project for blending and shading again and this time I’ve challenged myself to grow it all from scratch.  This in itself would prove to be a big challenge for me so I did a little searching on the internet and found a body figure that I thought would look good and it did.

For most of the project I was blending colors together trying to make good transitions that would look good together

The main part of this project I had a giant problem with was making a color blend that looked like tanned, dirty and oldish skin.  this took me all of 15 minutes of playing with colors and different shades of tans oranges yellows asme pinks and just overall getting it all to go well together.

a MAJOR set back today was power flickers that kept happening.  i had to start over where I left off yesterday multiple times and it got annoying.  I actually got to the point where I was saving my file every time I would make a change to the history.

week 9 Day 43

Today I was working on making my current drawing better and finish it

I removed a few things from the current piece such as I removed the western had and replaced it with a plague doctor hat then I put a mask on his face so I didn’t have to fight making the face look right. Then I put some colors around the chest under the shirt making it look like my character is something more than human then I colored the hands and other aesthetics 

The main tool I used to get the colors down for it were the smudge tool and blur tool.  working with these tools took me some time to get use to working together but when I I got them down they made great results.  I would start by putting colors in with my brush tool and then using my smudge tool to blend them together.  After that I would fill in where there were white spot by drawing out the colors with my smudge tool.  Working with the smudge tool so much leaves lines where you pulled the colors and it  makes the picture look bad and thats where the blur tool comes in.  With the blur tool I would make everything blurry which actually removed the lined created by the smudge made, making the colors blend together even better 

 

I decided to see what I could do to my Artorius picture if I used the blur tool on him and the results were very disappointing cause it did do much actually made it worse 

A lot of his aura was removed by the blur tool and it also made the aura conform more than just make like a barrier around him which I did like 

I added effects to my drawing just trying to make it look better and I actually really like how it has this shadow clone effect to him that makes it appear as if his shadow is more than that almost like its more of an ally to him making the burden of his journey easier.  I may just be reading too much into it though.

 

Im not quite sure what I’m going to do tomorrow so today after I leave I plan on going online and searching  some pictures and try to find some inspiration on what to draw next.  I might make another T-shirt design I’m not quite sure yet.

 

week 8 day 41 and day 42 oops

So I may have accidentally forgot to blog yesterday so I’m gonna cover todays and yesterdays work in one post.

In the two days I was working on my new picture that I’m drawing and its giving me plenty of detailing skills.  I discovered that even picture that are simple take a lot of detail or else they look trashy.

This project has easily hit on my top 3 list though. Ive changed what I was originally going do.  Instead of making a outlaw I’m making a monster hunter.  The main thing that I’ve changed on it is the weaponry of my character.  instead of a pistol I’ve given him arrows, throwing knives, a dagger, a khora sword, and a great sword.  Im still debating on adding a bow.  Another thing on my mind is what I’m going to do with his face.  Im not good at drawing faces thats why i originally wanted to go with a hood where I could just hide his whole face in it and there not be any issues but I can’t do that with the perspective of this character.

week 8 day 40 i finished my video

Today I got my video finished and it turned out really good

Now that my video is finished Im not quite sure what I’m going to to do for my next project

So my new project is drawing a character that i have imagined in my head myself.

This Character is a priest that use to be an Outlaw that has changed his ways and as a final stand for the wrong going on in the town he is preaching at he holsters up his widow maker again and guns down those terrorizing the town

When I finish the character I’m going to draw two  church doors opening with him behind them walking down to the town.  This project is really going to take some skill to get done since I’m not using a template for it I’m kinds just winging it.  for the legs and main body structure I did use a templet to get me started but others than that this is all drawn free.

week 8 day 39

Today I learned how to run a new program.  This program was premier pro.  This program is used for video footage.  The main parts that I learned how to work with is how to cut footage and generally navigate easily while editing at the same time  

The first thing I was taught was how to navigate.  This generally consists of 3 keys  L, K, and J.  The L key allows me to play forward normally or gradually speed up the more I press it.  The K key works as a general stop button to stop my footage where I want.  Finally the J key works in reverse to the L key just rewinding and gradually getting faster as I press it more.

The more in depth things about it I picked up on myself such as the more precise navigator.  The left and right arrow keys allow me to move millisecond by millisecond until I get to the exact spot I want to cut out or start cutting.

The way you’re suppose to cut your footage is by taking it and at the point where what you want to cut out then you press the I key to start.  Next you watch until you get to the end of what is to be cut then you press the O key.  That will end your selection making what you want to cut be cut the only thing thats selected.  Next you find the export button located second from last right under your work.

This tool with cut “extract” what ever you want to remove from your footage.

 

week 8 Day 38…Well Im 17 now

Today was a good day.  I started off great and got straight to work.

I continued on coloring and shading my knight that I started last week.

This picture has more grey than anything else and the way I’m blending it together makes it look outstanding.  The biggest accomplishment was finishing the cloak and getting it to have contribute the corruption of the abyss that is taking over my character.

The final minuets I put into the artwork was making sure everything blended well and also making sure the effects that I put on it looked right.  I was just messing around with the stroke and it added this aura that I fell in love with.  The abyss is black purplish so having the black corruption on his armor then adding the purple aura going all around him showing that he is corrupted completely.  The final part was his shadow.  the shadow make it look like it was his original self.  In my eyes and perception it resembles his past self before he was corrupted and now he’s locked up within his mind and soul but his heart has been blackened by the abyss.

The next thing I did before I started blogging was make me a script fro my video.  I know that I shouldn’t need one but I got a gut feeling that if I don’t make me one I won’t know what to say in front of the camera

week7 day 37

Today I got more than i was expecting to get done.

I finished tracing the picture then I made my customizations to it.  First off I removed the shoulder plate on the left shoulder (the one that is showing) like I said I would then i made the broke the end off the sword making it shorter than it originally was.  Next I completely changed the helm, I started by removing the wolf cap and the tail that was on the back which actually wasn’t that hard.  after my modifications I went to coloring the artwork.  

Starting at the legs I took a variety of greys and blacks to start shading the edges then I started taking lighter colors and putting them into the center or end of the parts and then using my smudge tool I blended all of the colors together.  

I did the same steps with different shades of blue to make the cowl seem faded and old I will be doing the same with the cloak.  

 

After getting the main part of the cowl done I went back to the legs working on finishing them up.  I played out my colors that actually blended smoothly an made the art work pop and come out more.

Im getting really anxious to see this picture finished then I will start on my video and hopefully that wraps up pretty quickly.

week 7 day 35/36

So yesterday we had a awards assembly and the instructors of all the programs game all of their students their awards and also SLC students got a trophy a long with other students getting scholarships.

Today I began on working on my poster that is going to go up on the wall at the end of the year.  my design is going to be Dark Souls based and it will be revolving around the Abyssal Knight Artorius.  I’m going to change a few things about artorius’s original design such as his main colors (from blue to Black or Red) 

The thing about this project that is different from my prior ones is that I’m actually going to be tracing most of the art work manually instead of with the trace tool on illustrator. This will allow me the modification abilities that I will use to make this piece of art work my own creation. 

After I finish the tracing I’m going to change a few things into my own design and my own style instead of keeping it all together and just leaving it alone I’m going to alter a few things in the colors and in the armors style most likely the helm and the shoulder plates. I like the design of the cloak that is flowing in the back but I might change the amount of cloak that is behind him I’m not sure yet.

This project gives me a good use of shading and blending together which I will do when I finish the tracing tomorrow morning.
